Blockchain-destroyer. Part II

Blockchain-destroyer. Part II

Blockchain for the first time in the history of our civilization gives you the opportunity to redesign a large-scale state. Give the person or the community greater powers, while not limiting potential, without requiring a change in the system of values, allowing us to be altruistic and highly moral people. The last part is an important innovation because so much of human history you can find a lot of ideas to shift the balance of power between man and government. But they were only functional in a specific environment. And if in the Middle ages and the Enlightenment we are talking about utopias in cities of the sun and communes enlightened people, closer to our times begin practical experiments which postulate the construction of an ideal society, but inevitably end up if not war communism, the crisis in the Venezuelan sample.

Why cryptoanalyst the government does not like? Just because they have the possibility to do without using technology? But the state machinery has shaped our civilization, we are with them for thousands of years, why get rid of the state, try to reduce it to the minimum core, or a symbolic representation?

The fact is that with the growth of population and complexity of social organization, the modern state became a mechanism for the service itself. Even in the most capitalist country whose economy operates under the laws of the free market, the state is the area of the planned management methods. The work of the state apparatus uses the principles of hierarchical control over the data collection and execution of control orders. From Sumerian times they are ideologically not changed, although the tools have evolved from the papyri and couriers to computers and communication networks. But this is the same model that are vulnerable to tampering or forgery of data, or corruption, or damage. To discover such actions, prevent and to keep the status quo, need numerous mutually controlling services and agencies. The honor system at the state level is based on the vaults, archives and databases, protected and, in fact, only the ethics of those who work with them. The more complex and branched system, the harder and razvetvlenii needs to be control over it. This complexity increases not linear, but exponentially, as each new branch of control also needs to be accountable and controllable.

The growth of complexity leads to the growth of the state apparatus. It requires resources to maintain, and these resources come from taxes. Because of the economy, there are times good and bad, sometimes the growth of the tax base covers the rate of swelling of the bureaucracy, and sometimes not. But the administration need to feed and supply at all times, and because, as statistics tells us, in different countries, it can work from one-seventh to more than half of the population, there is a question of national importance: how to make so that the country could feed the state and not go bankrupt? To curtail social benefits are very difficult to reduce bureaucracy is often even more difficult. The modern state is teetering on the thin line of the budget, be reduced from about acceptable deficit of resources for risky experiments are few, and the political will for a radical redrawing of the bureaucracy even less. Again — the reason for this vicious circle is reduced to the basic inefficiency of the management model.

There is another point. The social contract, which was in the last part, called “social” for a reason. Society evolyutsioniruet faster economic relations. Two thousand years ago a critical mass of dissenting from the views of the authorities could be crucified along the Appian way, and that to close the issue. Uncritical mass can be ignored because she had no means of self-organization. The modern millenials and the next generation after them themselves quietly ignore the laws, decrees and orders that they don’t like. Where are the offshore companies, second citizenship, VPN, closed groups in social networks and messengers, and the like? Within the community formed the group, dissatisfied with the quality of public services. And now, thanks to the miracle of global communication, they can get them elsewhere on the planet. Similarly, they can sell their goods and services, to gain knowledge and experience. That is, out of the blue, just for the fact of having technology in the world is formed a layer of people who belong to States only by tradition, but living on top of them. States are making every effort to put their activities under control, to impose taxes and to require regular reports, registrations, passports and visas.

It’s time to return to the example from the first part with the registration of acts of civil status. Nakamoto was three times right when I decided to try out the possibilities of the blockchain that is the example of cryptocurrency. His experiment answered on several controversial issues related to the viability of the public blockchain with independent calculation agents. At the same time he demonstrated, and a working alternative to the traditional financial system.

If the founding father were looking for an example of No. 2, he could choose the problem of global identification and storage of private information. Ten years ago, its importance was obvious to the architects of large information corporations the level of Google and Microsoft. Now, after a lot of hacking with the abduction of personal data, after millions of fake accounts that are active campaigns in social networks, after the attempts of security services to loopholes in any social network or mobile device, this problem is shifted to the first place in any ranking of the world’s priorities. How it will be decided, may depend not only on the economic well-being Facebook and Twitter, and their colleagues on the market, but also the state policy in the field of access to information. There is a feeling that great information wall can shut out not only China.

And this is the perfect scenario for the blockchain. He is strong in systems of trust, which is fully distributed, does not depend on a single center and not in need of vertical management. Its integrity and uniqueness is determined by the cryptography. It does not require a special infrastructure in order to access the units from anywhere in the world — and can be designed so that it was enough for any smartphone and not particularly quick phone channel at least in the African provinces. A captive audience does not add complexity and does not require geometric growth of resources for maintenance. On the contrary, with a certain level create blocks you can throw a billion of those same smartphones. And most importantly — it does not require human qualities and cross-checks to work effectively even with the most important information. Is pure mathematics.

Human data and private keys from our good information will become the property and concern of the state archives, agencies and officials, and the blockchain. Our unique identifier in civilization will be stored everywhere and nowhere, the politics of access and visibility to the outside world will be determined not by politics, but by ourselves. And for the first time since the ancient Polis it will allow us to seriously ask ourselves — what do we want to delegate to the state, and what to keep?

About how many functions the blockchain can take the state in the next section.
