Entrepreneurs from the blockchain-industry of the United States vs. the American legislators.
A number of blockchain-funds, bitcoin exchanges and startups plans to influence American legislators through the new blockchain Association.
As it became known, the new organization will focus their activities on education and legal changes, thus seeking to normalize relations between the cryptocurrency industry and the authorities. Among the founding organizations among other included Coinbase, Circle, Digital Currency Group, Polychain Capital and Protocol Labs.
One of the first employees of the Association, was a former assistant of the Senate and the blockchain Overstock lobbyist Christine Smith. She said that will take over the function of “direction” of the organization in the first stages of its existence.
“I spent a lot of time doing work on the dissemination of basic knowledge in this space. I love the fact that it can deal exclusively with these issues,” she said.
Head of legal Department and risk Department of the exchange Coinbase Mike Lempres the publication that the organization will bring together campaigns for reasonable regulation of cryptocurrencies.
“The blockchain-the Association is an attempt to gather leading companies in this space together, so that the legislators know that they are dealing with companies that welcomes regulation where it is appropriate. We are not those companies who try to trick the system. We are trying to create a legal and regulatory framework that will stand the test of time,” he said.
Blockchain-the Association will pay special attention to tax issues and rules for customer identification and anti-money laundering that apply to cryptocurrency exchanges and startups, at least as a priority.
The Executive Director of the nonprofit research and action group Coin Center’s Jerry Brito said that the formation of such structures is evidence of the development of the industry. “It is good that there is an additional voice to defend our common views,” he said.
