Ethereum developers have presented the technology of scaling of the second network level

The developer of Ethereum Vlad Zamfir created the first successful experimental version of the technology scaling of the second level called sharding (eng. – sharding) with the participation of his colleagues of Tim Bako and John Marling.

On one of the largest Ethereum-ETH hackathon Berlin Zamfir gave an interview to Coindesk, which reported that the developers can run the technology on their computers in the coming weeks, but it still is a prototype that is not even close to be launched in the main Ethereum.

“This proof of concept very basic component that I designed the road map of sharding. It prevents messagebuy atomic error or, more precisely, prevents the perfection of the atomic messagewall error. Therefore, the submit function will never be completed, if not completed the retrieve function,” said Zamfir, adding that the software will be tested over the next weeks. “We continue to work on integration. Check again after a week. By this time, you should see instructions that you can follow in order to launch on your computer”.

Sharding is a complex solution for the second level of the Ethereum blockchain, which essentially splits the blockchain into many smaller parts, which are called shards, which allows to optimize the process of verification of information by the nodes in the network.

Earlier in conversation with the South Korean publication JoongAng Ethereum Creator Vitalik Buterin admitted that scaling the network with the help of technology of sharding and Plasma can take anywhere from two to five years.

Zamfir said that the purpose of the establishment of the first experimental implementation of sharding is the training of developers and start the process of technology integration on a wider level. However, he noted that the most important issues, which are messagebye messages and meganova integrity, is not yet resolved, as they pose to developers of complex cryptographic problem, which could take months or even years.

1 Aug Ethereum-startup Status introduced the first mobile sharding-client working in the ecosystem and Nimbus designed to help developers to achieve their vision in the core network cryptocurrency.

Zilliqa – another project based on the technology of sharding, but having her own approach, which according to the developers, can give positive results, as it will allow you to create alternative solutions suitable for various decentralized applications.
