Charity Fund UNICEF France announced the start accepting donations in bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies.
According to a press release from the French division of International emergency children’s Fund UN UNICEF France now accepts donations directly in the following cryptocurrencies: bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), litecoin (LTC), ripple (XRP), bitcoin cash (BCH), EOS (EOS), monero (XMR), dash (dash) and stellar (XLM).
The Director of the French branch of UNICEF Sebastian Lyon commented the decision as follows:
“Cryptocurrency and blockchain technology for the purposes of the charity are offering new options to appeal to the generosity of the public and the continued execution of our missions for children in countries where we operate. This is an innovation from the point of view of solidarity and fundraising, which are still not so much, and which also is becoming more democratic”
This is not the first such undertaking of a charitable organization. In February this year, UNICEF announced a new philanthropy, with the participation of crypto currency miners, launching a fundraising campaign in the framework of the protection of children in Syria, called “Game Chaingers”, and in April the Australian UNICEF Australia has launched a browser-based platform for mining cryptocurrency Hopepage.
Initiative charitable organization of cryptomeria, Pineapple Fund, has donated more than $ 90 million in cryptocurrency on various missions.
