Microsoft is developing two blockchain product
Microsoft has published a document telling about the process of developing two new products for decentralized identification on the basis of the blockchain, which will give people greater control over personal data.
The first project is an encrypted store of information. It is a identification center, which is a combination of personal user device and the cloud platform Azure. It is expected that in the store people will be able to place data and a third party will need permission to obtain access to them. This can dramatically change the situation when private information is continuously distributed without the knowledge of users.
Another product will be an app, not like a purse, which among other things can be used to manage permissions on their data, with the possibility of cancellation at will.
Both developments are based on the blockchain and decentralized identifiers (DID) open source. Unlike traditional, they are not tied to a phone number or handle, therefore always controlled by the user. Products will be a decision of the second level functioning on top of the main blockchain. This will allow to process huge number of transactions and scale system for use on a global scale.
Microsoft seeks to offer a compatible ecosystem that will allow developers and companies to create new products, applications and services. Specific deadlines are not specified.
The other giant Alibaba is also planning to introduce its own version of the blockchain by adding administration.
