In Russia there is an increase in the number of mining companies, said the President of the Russian Association of cryptocurrency and blockchain (RAKIB) Yuri Pripachkin.
“In the first half of the year 2018, the number of mining enterprises in Russia increased by 15% and amounted to 75 thousand. In the mining industry are already involved 350 thousand people. As of July 2018, the share of Russia in the global mining market accounts for approximately 6%, which is 1% higher than a year earlier, while the leading positions are occupied by the United States and Canada”, – he said at the first meeting of the Council on the digital economy of the Russian Federation.
“The number of holders of crypto currencies in Russia grew from 2.5 million people by year-end 2017 and 3 million in the first half of 2018,” – said the head of RAKIB.
He once again expressed the opinion that, postponing the implementation of regulatory legislation in the field of cryptocurrencies, Russia may seize the opportunity to become a digital financial leader.
“Digital money – a reality today, and the delay means the omission of investments to 1 trillion roubles a year” – he said.
According to a report by Morgan Stanley, which led Pripachkin, as of the first quarter of 2018, the top five countries in terms of trade cryptocurrencies included Malta, Belize, Seychelles, USA and South Korea.
The five countries leading in the number of cryptocurrency exchanges – UK, Hong Kong, USA, Singapore and Turkey.
“Russia does not fixed nor in trade nor in the placement of exchanges,” he concluded.
