The Belgian company NXMH bought exchange Bitstamp
Registered in Luxembourg the cryptocurrency exchange Bitstamp on October 29 announced that it has acquired the Belgian investment company NXMH, also owns a South Korean trading site Korbit. This was reported by Reuters.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but according to rumors, Bitstamp has cost the new owner $400 million Platform founded in 2011, the citizen of Slovenia Nejc Kodric. It is alleged that his starting capital was 1,000 euros. For seven years the exchange has attracted funding from investors including Pantera Capital, in the amount of $14 million.
Kodric will retain the post of the head Bistamp. In an interview with Fortune he said that after the purchase will not change anything neither for the customers nor for 180 employees. According to him, mergers and Bitstamp Korbit, although the exchanges are going to share technology and knowledge.
NXMH look to Bitstamp from mid-2017. The deal was signed in December of last year, but it took almost a year for her approval by regulatory authorities.
Kodrich admitted that he used the purchase order to cash out a large part of its shares in the company (10%). He also said that NXMH intends to help Bitstamp to expand the area of operations.
