Users of BitTorrent will be able to get tokens TRX for distributing files
Founder and Executive Director of the Tron Justin (Justin Sun), now the owner of BitTorrent, said that the Project Atlas initiative is a “basis for a new model of content distribution”.
“For a start, the product will offer higher speed downloads, more seeders and backward compatibility. He adapted to the world in which we live today: mobile, interdependent and transparent. Eventually we plan to give more opportunities for all content creators and their communities by removing intermediaries, to enable authors to share directly with users,” said San.
The press release also notes that Tron uses the Protocol Delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) as a consensus mechanism, so users do not have create tokens on their devices. Instead, rewards in the form of TRX will be “based on the provided resources”. At the same time, new features will be optional – everyone will be able to continue to use BitTorrent absolutely for free.
Recall that in the middle of last year, the American programmer and designer of the BitTorrent Protocol, Bram Cohen (Bram Cohen) announced that he intends to create a cryptocurrency that should solve the problem, still present in the network of Bitcoin. Subsequently, the firm was bought by BitTorrent blockchain startup Tron. As it turned out in August, after the deal Justin San also became the owner of a small stake in Chia Network – the upcoming launch of cryptocurrency Protocol by Bram Cohen.
