You have to know! Virginia will hold its first elections in the world on the Blockchain
West Virginia is rolling out a mobile app for voting based on blockchain, thus American soldiers, located outside of the United States of America, also have the opportunity to vote in the upcoming election, reported by CNN.
Previously, the state used the mobile platform to a vote, called Voatz, as a pilot instance for military personnel and their dependants in two districts for the midterm elections. The Secretary of state Mack Warner at the time said the plan was to extend the pilot in 55 districts of the state in the middle of the month, if the experiment proves successful.
Warner says: “four different checks, including verification of its cloud-based infrastructure and the infrastructure of the blockchain has not shown any problems.” The implementation will limit the use of the application Voatz for troops stationed abroad.
He also added that the new app isn’t aimed to replace the traditional ballot and insists that the military will still be able to “give paper ballots” in the election.
